On this day: Abbey Road Cover Photo Taken
Friday, 8th August 2014 by Ian Brown
On August 8, 1969, the cover photo for The Beatles' Abbey Road album was taken by Iain Macmillan, with the band walking across the zebra crossing outside the studio. The site is visited by countless tourists each year, and there is even a webcam showing the crossing 24 hours a day. McCartney's lack of shoes was one of the crucial components of the "Paul is dead" urban legend that sprung up around the album. I'm fairly sure it was incorrect as I saw him in concert last year. We took a look at Beatles-related sites in Liverpool a couple of years ago.
