That must be a fairly new error — I’ve looked at this exact spot in Google Maps on a number of occasions. The Harvard Bridge is actually quite well known in geo-oddity circles as the birthplace of the Smoot (a unit of measurement): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoot
