Cabazon Dinosaurs

Thursday, 28th April 2005 by James

Along I-10 in Cabazon, CA you will find the Cabazon dinosaurs. From the shadow it is quite easy to spot the giant Apatosaurus known as “Dinny”, who has a gift shop inside his belly. To the north of Dinny is a Tyrannosaurus known as Rex, who is a bit more difficult to spot. The two were featured in the movie “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure” or you can see the both of them from ground level here.

I think these are the same ones used in the movie ‘The Wizard’ from 1989.

Continuing this discussion to other roadside attractions, can anyone find Cadillac Ranch outside Amarillo, TX? The area is high-res, but I’m not familiar enough with the area to locate it.

Jurassic Park was filmed on the Na Pali Coast of Kauai. Unfortunately, the area doesn’t have high-res images, but it was likely filmed in one or more of the valleys shown here:

Something I found out; if you show up for a table at the Wheel Inn (the diner where the dinosaurs are located at, and who’s real interior was also used in “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure”).. anyway if you show up for a table at the Wheel Inn and tell them “Large Marge sent me” - they don’t laugh. But they do roll their eyes. Apparently they’ve heard that one before.
