UFO Updates

Please note that some or all of the objects mentioned in this post are no longer visible on Google Earth or Google Maps.

Thanks to everyone who commented on the original UFO find, although we’re still not sure what they are, there’s been some interesting developments.

Ian Pottinger and jher were the first to find that there are in fact eight of these UFOs over Florida, at the following points

One - Two - Three - Four - Five - Six - Seven - Eight

and Tensus used keyhole to map the points showing that they make a very neat grid.

Yoshino and jher later noticed that the UFOs are not limited to Florida but can also be found over L.A.

One - Two - Three - Four - Five - Six - Seven - Eight - Nine - Ten - Eleven - Twelve - Thirteen

and Tensus again mapped the points, which appear in an almost straight line.

Things the UFOs are definitely not…

Space debris or another satellite?

Derek & Tensus discovered that the close-up images of Florida are taken by AerialsExpress.com at an altitude of 17,500 feet so are aerial photos and not satellite images.

Marks added to obscure famous peoples homes?

While there’s no doubt the whitehouse photos were processed for security it is very unlikely these UFOs are intentional ‘cover-ups’ due to the neat grid layout.

Water towers?

The UFOs are just too big to be water towers (and there’s no shadow).

Anomaly produced by the stitching software?

Shi Ju says

Definitely they’re NOT marks for picture stitching. In most stitching software (like for making panoramas) the algorithm comes down to finding sharp and contrasting details and aligning those spots with each other.

Things the UFOs still could be…

An alien spacecraft?

It’s still possible!

A weather balloon?

Tm says

The “Grid” is centered around an airfield, common launch points for weather balloons.

Although Klem says

All currently used radiosonde devices (weather balloons) are latex, yellowish beige to transluscent

and Jello adds

The object in question here does not cast a ground effect, therefore does not exist in the air.

A ‘lenticular’ cloud?

Patrick was the first to float this idea and the images he posted do look similar to the UFOs, although it is unlikely clouds would form in neat grids.

Condensation on the lens?

Possibly the current forerunner for most likely explanation, Stuart said…

Condensation inside some sort of housing would be my guess. If the drop were directly on the lens it would be effectively invisible. Put it a few inches/feet away and have the camera shooting with a very deep depth of field (as you would with a small aperture) and it would look just like that anomaly.

Something else?

Possibly one of: Peppermint, baseball, Vogon ship, crop circle, planet, thumbtack, ballbearings, smoke, pond, swamp gas, golf ball, satellite, flying ninja, space junk or contact lens as others have suggested!

Cmon guys It’s just a rocket.
the way this is proven is if you look at some rocket lauch footage and look at this it’s realitivly the same.
Besides all het the zigzaging tail should be a BIG tip off.

  2. 527. BJ says:

the golden spot’s the rocket I mean!

  3. 528. Ethereal says:

    Just strange places in Nevada.

    What do you think ??

  4. 529. BJ says:

    Wow….. That’s Very STrange Indeed.
I would think the runway would be a private one.
Alot of people Live in nevada Desert.
The Pyrinid is harder to explain though.
I would think It would be used to shield equipment from the wind (Mostly sandblasting).
Also These area’s have been used for Scientific Expirements and Are privately owned.
My Assumption is that these people have ALOT of time on their hands.

  5. 530. mountain jack says:

The pyramid is actually a triangular hole in the ground. Look at the shadows of other objects.

  6. 531. mountain jack says:

You’re looking at the Nevada Test Site. Lots of strange things happened there.

  7. 532. Ethereal says:

    What about this “thing” ?

Placemark: Google Maps / Google Earth

  8. 533. mountain jack says:

Not sure what that is but it’s part of the Deseret Chemical Depot.
Can’t be too important because there is no fence around it. See
    http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/facility/deseret-gallery.htm
You’re not picking these sites at random, are you Ethereal?

  9. 534. Ethereal says:

    Sure not, Jack…

  10. 535. Ethereal says:

    Strange sign… maybe a target…?? Satellite Calibration…? Number seven… where are the others…? Any idea…?

  11. 536. Ethereal says:

What about this… ?? A missile silo ?? Take a look at the symbol in the middle of it.

  12. 537. mountain jack says:

Your latest pictures are on the Tonopah Test Range, see
    http://www.dreamlandresort.com/info/tonopah.htm
Terraserver’s topo maps call these objects “targets,” but there isn’t much evidence of bomb or missile craters around them, see
    http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.aspx?T=2&S=12&Z=11&X=655&Y=5235&W=2

The symbol in the middle of the second picture is not a radiation symbol, that has three lobes. What is strange to me is that they permit Google maps to show these high-definition aerial photos covering much (but not all) of the Nellis complex. Area 51, for example, is a lower-definition satellite photo. Found any flying saucers at Nellis yet?

  13. 538. Ethereal says:

Not yet, Jack…. If you have Google Earth and try to view Area 51, you will have a nice surprise…

  14. 539. Dark Mirage says:

Would you mind posting a picture location of Area 51 on the google map there? I’m curious to see the area 51 view. I looked around the area of your last post Etheral and I found two giant black circles . Seeing as my geography is utter crap and I have no idea where that is… was that Area 51?

  15. 540. Dark Mirage says:

I’m sorry, I feel really stupid lol. I did my own research and that IS area 51… ai yai yai. Some cool pics i found while browsing the internet though. That area of land is HUUUUUGE beyond belief. Makes me wonder how large the underground parts are that we can’t see

  16. 541. Ethereal says:

As Jack said, my last post refers to Tonopah Test Range.
Here is yhe low resolution image of Area 51:

  17. 542. Ethereal says:

    Found the target number 3…

  18. 543. Dark Mirage says:

I’ve been using Google Earth to view these pictures. MUCH better resolution. Anyhow, there appears to be a baseball diamond at Area 51 there near Groom Lake. I guess nothing beats a hard day at the dissection table then a good game of basebal ; ) You know what would be worth checking out, however, is those pictures of animal line drawings that you can only see from an arieal point of view… The ones the Aztecs left behind or whomever. I think i’ll go looking for those now

  19. 544. mountain jack says:

There is a lot of geometry at Nellis:

  20. 545. Ethereal says:

Hi, Jack. I know about the targets. Do you have any information about that giant gate whith a yellow and black circle that i posted later ?? I didn’t find anything about it…

  21. 546. mountain jack says:

Ethereal, All I know is what I see on the web and on google maps and on the terraserver topo, which calls it a “target.” There are 2 other “targets” in the dry lake bed to the north, one circular and one square or diamond shaped. To the east of the lake (called “main lake” on the topo), there are installations called “master launcher 5351″ and “9A gunsite 5345.”

This location is about 3 miles from the edge of the Nellis Range and about 20 miles South of US highway 6. I suspect that a conventional rocket launch would be very obvious to anyone on highway 6, so if your “target” is a missile silo, it probably isn’t used much.

The stealth fighter was tested at the TTR and flown from the airstrip about 5 miles away, so maybe this stuff is there to test the stealthiness of the F-117. Or maybe not.

You might want to check out the 2003 TTR Environmental Site Report to find out more about the area.

  22. 547. Ethereal says:

    Found this one… Don’t know if it’s a target too… it’s huge.

  23. 548. Dark Mirage says:

Where’s the HALO base up in Alaska? I bet we could get some interesting pics

  24. 549. KD says:

I’m producing a new reality show called “X-testers” on TLC where two hollywood SFX artists try to recreate mysterious phenomena (kind of an X-files meets Mythbusters). We’ll be heading out to Tempe, AZ on Sept. 17th to “X-test” the Google orbs that appeared over LA and Florida. I am looking for three sightseeing “witnesses” to feature on camera who believe that it could be a UFO. These people will be featured to set-up the mystery and will remain on camera during the segment and interact with the “X-testers” as they fashion their effects. In the end, the witnesses will be shown the results and the conclusion will be examined. The tone of the show is fun and positive. This is not a situation where anyone is discredited or made to look foolish. Currently scheduled for Sat, Sept 17th, it will require your time most of the day.

If you’re interested, please send an email with a photo to kirk@mikemathisprods.com. Thank you.

  25. 550. Bernard Lovell says:

There really are some numbskulls out there aren’t there?
I really think you should find out more about imaging technology (and a basic grasp of physics) before you start claiming ufo invasion! As space boy points out you arent actually controlling the zoom function from your silly little computer. You are just enlarging an image on a hard drive somewhere! And, as i understand it, the satellites and / or planes dont take single ’snap shots’ but a continuously rolling feed on a very complex set of lens. This would go someway to explaining the ’scrolling’ water droplet - image a scratch on record as it revolves. As the plane or satellite does a sweep it will appear again and again until it evaporates or blows off.

  26. 551. chillin says:

since there is scotch tape all over the place… could just be a clear tack to hold the pictures together

  27. 552. chillin says:

since there is scotch tape all over the place… could just be a clear tack to hold the pictures together. It would be out of focus since it’s not being focus’d on.

  28. 553. happynobody says:

OK EVERYONE DROP THE WATER DROPLETS - IT AIN’T UFO’S!!!
JUST DISCUSS ANYTHING ELSE BUT THAT AND TRY TO MAKE PROGRESS IN THIS TOPIC!

  30. 555. logan says:

  33. 558. Paranormal Magazine says:

While the watermark theory may be true, I thought it relevant to point out that the Google watermark appears in other areas of the image as well, areas that do not contain the disc shape, including a very faint section to the left of the disc which contains the “2005″ part. The watermark appears more clearly over the disc shape because it is a lighter color than the rest of the image. This can be seen in the other areas of the image where the watermark shows clearer over streets and parking lots. Whatever the cause of the disc shapes, it most likely has nothing to do with the copyright watermark which was probably added after the image was taken.

  34. 559. Matt says:

These objects will be very close to the camera. The images were taken from aerial passes at 17,500 feet according to Google and of course the cameras were set up to focus on the ground, and close to infinity. For the image to be blurred, any photographer will tell you that the object has to be quite close to a camera set at infinity, even with a wide-angle lens. No more than 100 feet and probably a lot closer. I would say that this is part of the imaging apparatus from the originals that inadvertantly got into the frame, and nothing more…

  35. 560. rdunna says:

I think I found one possible explanation for these artifacts. Someone assembled a mosaic of smaller pictures locking them with round-headed steel needles, and then a picture of the hole mosaic was made. I made a simulation with what I had in hands and the result is very similar, see http://tinyurl.com/9kewb . With a lens with a smaller depth of view, the needle´s head would appear more defocused than the background.
