Missed Bridge
Friday, 27th May 2005 by Alex Turnbull
There appear to be some serious alignment issues with the Clark Bridge, which connects Missouri and Illinois. I certainly wouldn't fancy trying to cross it!
Evidently this bridge was the subject of some documentary sometime... Good shadows further down it though.
Thanks: Turd Ferguson
It’s an image alignment mismatch, not a bridge alignment mismatch. You can see the offset all along the border between the two adjoining sattelite photos, and the cars that don’t appear to be troubled by the fact that the bridge ‘leads nowhere’.
No David. It’s really a bridge misalignment. Some engineer got fired over it and everything. You can’t see it buy there’s a little hydraulic lift device that carries the cars from one end to the other.
No need to be snarky. Given the way the images are blended, it’s easy to miss from a cursory glance. There are types of construction that would look more or less like that when unfinished (one is being done near my workplace – sadly, the sattelite photo of the area predates it – it would look quite odd from above).
It sure looks like an image alignment problem to me. What’s the deal with the road east of the bridge? That one is split in half the same way the bridge is. I sure hope the engineer that created that road was fired too.
There’s another image misalignment in Tampa that I submitted, but it hasn’t been posted yet.
ROFL! Good work clearing that up David – I’m sure there’s at least one really stupid person reading this site who’ll be grateful for your input.
I think it is a tumor
Sorry David. It was meant in fun….but be careful if you’re ever driving across that thing, just in case! 🙂
You had me till you mentioned that hydraulic thing… i mean come on!
LOL
There’s another one in Tempe, AZ at Tempe Town Lake
I don’t know what you all think but it looks like some sort of image alignment problem to me, like the picture was taken and then the next one that was taken was off just a little bit. I mean were talking pictures from outer space here. Though, with all our technology you would think that people would not even get to the end of my comment. 😉
Someone really sucks at Photoshop.
