Brilliant bit of weirdness here… Tom Comeau says:

I believe it’s winter, and we’re seeing snow and ice on the lake surface. But where there’s clear water, something very odd is showing through.

WAIT!! Trimble Wildlife Lake, that’s what Google Earth says this location is, Trimble Wildlife Lake - I’m researching this shit.

  2. 107. Nereus says:

Trimble Wildlife Lake was created after the Army Corps of Engineers built the Smithville Dam, flooding an area previously used for aquaculture. You’re seeing reflections of the submerged ponds below the lake surface. More info can be found by calling the Smithville Project Office at (816) 532-0174 or sending an email to Smithville@Nwk02.usace.army.mil

    Its just a camera faliure

  4. 109. jeanbean says:

Round Valley Reservoir in NJ is another place where they flooded a town to create the reservoir and it looks just like…water.

  5. 110. Yeah, that's it! says:

The image of the lake was taken from an airplane, not a satellite. You ppl crack me up!

  6. 111. Jay H says:

Maybe Douglas Adams knew something we didn’t. Maybe the Earth really **is** a giant computer program commissioned by highly intelligent pan-dimensional beings (who appear in our dimension as mice) as part of their quest to find the Ultimate Question that corresponds to the Ultimate Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything!

    I’m off to find a hidden #42 in the circuits now… ;-)

  7. 112. Anonymous says:

I think it’s a reflection of the satellite itself.

  8. 113. Hoboman says:

    It looks cooooooooooooooooool.

  9. 114. Fnord says:

Please stop calling yourselves geeks … it’s such desperate attention-seeking.

  10. 115. Tim Dobbelaere says:

Could this just be the reflection of the objective used to make this picture? Either the satelite or camera circuit board?

  11. 116. Mateus says:

    We are doomed.

    that´s it.

I can see the Vogons coming.

Gonna get myself a beer. What else to do?!?

  14. 119. Darius says:

    Guys! it’s a cpu die/core that’s been photoshopped in…

Although reading all these wacky theories is quite funny :D

  15. 120. Nick says:

From now on I will play it safe and wear Tin Foil on my head to deter the beings that formed that city.

  16. 121. Kooothor says:

    It’s my mother.

  17. 122. Zinger! says:

O come on now its so obvious that this is an alien invasion force planted deep within the earth building cities underwater so we will not find out. I say fire 8 photon torpedoes at them should do the job. All your base belong to us!

  18. 123. redezem says:

look, guys, if you zoom in far enough, you can start to see splotches which seem to look a hell of a lot like snow…. any clues there??

I’m producing a new reality show called “X-testers” on TLC where two hollywood SFX artists try to recreate mysterious phenomena (kind of an X-files meets Mythbusters). We’ll be heading out to Tempe, AZ on Sept. 17th to “X-test” the Google orbs that appeared over LA and Florida. I am looking for three sightseeing “witnesses” to feature on camera who believe that it could be a UFO. These people will be featured to set-up the mystery and will remain on camera during the segment and interact with the “X-testers” as they fashion their effects. In the end, the witnesses will be shown the results and the conclusion will be examined. The tone of the show is fun and positive. This is not a situation where anyone is discredited or made to look foolish. Currently scheduled for Sat, Sept 17th, it will require your time most of the day.

If you’re interested, please send an email with a photo to kirk@mikemathisprods.com. Thank you.

Hum…. Hard to say in english, but if someone can translate…

Sorry… I’not good enought in english for translating this…

  30. 135. nEC says:

If you carefully observe the map, this lake is in a region of map with different color. Actually this is an X-Ray / Thermographic satellite image. This is not the surface of the lake, this is the BOTTOM! Yes, under the water! This can be an ancient kind (made by aliens??) of neuronic computer that is hiding its existence under the waters of this lake for many hundredth thousand years…

  31. 136. jvc says:

That makes sense nEC. I’ve seen before thermographic satellite images and that is exactly how they look like.

  32. 137. pcs says:

nEC, even though the analysis that you propose is correct, I disagree on the neuronic computer theory. I most incline to suggest that this is a “ruin” of some long lost civilisation that has left the earth for other planets/star systems long ago…

  33. 138. Terry says:

Jacob: “I think we can forgive the folks from Edinburgh, Scotland for thinking Kansas City is in Kansas! They already spelled Civilization wrong.”

I’m very glad that you forgive our British English, the original English, if you will. ;)

As for the lake, it’d be nice if such a thing did exist, although I’d personally think (hope!) such pranks wouldn’t take place at Google.

  34. 139. Who does this? says:

I think it’s freakin hillarious that this discussion has been going on for 3 months now!
