Stadion Dziesięciolecia

Sunday, 7th August 2005 by James

Stadion Dziesięciolecia (Polish for 10th Anniversary Stadium) is the biggest stadium in Warsaw but was abandoned in 1983. It is now home to the Jarmark Europa market, which runs every weekend. In the satellite photo you can see the stalls of over 5,000 companies (More info).

Scan a bit to the left and up, the river appears to make a dramatic transition at the seam offset.

Nice bridge shadow just south of the seam.

Little more on south is another Placemark: stadium / Google Earth of Legia Warsaw Footbal Club. There is word LEGIA visible on seats (but don’t even try to say “Legia” in Poznan for example or you can get hurt ;) ).

Just next to Legia Stadium we can see Lazienki Park with Placemark: Chopin’s Monument / Google Earth and Placemark: The Palace on the water / Google Earth.

“of over 5,000 companies” - It’s not true! Most of people there are illegal imigrants from east. They don’t pay taxes, sell mainly pirated music, software, guns, drugs, stolen mobile phones and smuggled alcohol or tobaco.

Great view on Legia Stadium i must say.
