Huge Google Earth Update

Google Earth Blog reports that Google Earth has had a huge imagery update with satellite and aerial pics across the globe.

The images haven’t made their way into Maps yet, so if you click the image below you’ll just get an out-of-focus empty shore, but click the Google Earth link and you’ll fly to one of the super-cool artificial Palm Islands in Dubai.

There’s loads of things to see all over the place so hopefully we’ll see the images in Google Maps soon!

    Finally! My city of 170,000 is in high res at last! Took them long enough, but at least now I can virtually tour my city :D

    This is awesome. Truly a great update by the folks at Google. I’ll definately be watching to see some awesome new images.

    my city isn’t with high imagery.. try to search Algeciras, Spain… I need to have that GOOD imagery to see my dad’s car and my balcony ;)

    I spent some time last year trying to spot the Palm islands on Google maps, it is good to see that they have updated the images, even if only in Google Earth. The islands are an impressive bit of work. Sadly, they still haven’t got decent resolution images for York, my city.

    It seems all the satellite imagery is currently missing, is the database being updated?

    The best bit being you can now view .kml and .kmz files in Google Maps, just stick the URL in the query box. Awesome.

    i wish that my town was in high resolution , you can see nothing in henderson , north carolina , but we can see all the rest of the towns around us., please update the henderson nc resolution , thanks alot

    google earth is fanatstic beyond imagination, can it be upgraded to view live image. I think most of the places of tourism are not covered from india

    Unfortunately not all areas are available in high resolution. They tend to concentrate on high population areas but sometimes there appears to be no good reason for an area being in low resolution - you just have to be patient and hope Google will buy the high resolution images for your area.

    I wonder when is the next update? I pray to God it will include Oujda/Morocco in high resolution. The city is home to a million people so it will be really nice to see it. I find it interesting that areas around it are in high resolution but the city itself is not… It is like if it was done in purpose…

    Google earth is the most amazing software humanity ever produced. I love humans. Thanks Google.

    aww i live in the uk and it’s not updated yet. I don’t know when it will be but i found out that you can see the ‘Big Brother House’ in the uk but when i finally found it, it was only half built lol. I hope the UK version gets updated soon

    some south indian areas are not clear . area coimbatore- ooty , places are not clear view plz do something .my house is not clear view in coimbatore dist in tamil nadu. india.

    Not sure if these requests are meant to be jokes???
    Just in case they are not: Google Sightseeing doesn’t maintain or update Google Earth … they just report cool things ON Google Earth.
    So there isn’t much point in requesting updates to Google Earth’s imagery here … sorry.
