Serious question – do Germans have allotments?
Placemark: Google Maps / Google Earth
Oh yes, we have allotments.
We call them Schrebergärten.
There are some real fanatics about this boring, ugly places.
Notice also the flag poles (or light) on the red aan blue car. They seem to be growing out of the cars
Hey macservo! Brilliant work! Youve made an obsessively curious man very happy.
I though allotments were a British phenomenon and it just goes to show how alike the Germans and British are alike (in some ways at least!)
Two nations bonded by their love of root vegetables and the universal quest for husbands to escape from their wives.
“I though allotments were a British phenomenon” – and I was pretty sure that this phenomenon is as German as it can get.
There even is a “Bundeskleingartengesetz” (federal-allotment-law? I’m pretty sure, thats a horrible translation, but you get the deal *g*)
We’ve got allotments in Sweden too, “Koloniträdgårdar”.
why do all think allotments are a national phenomena. we swiss have them to, i think they are spread all over europe.
