Plane Shaped Pools

It seems that more than one person has had the idea of theming their swimming pool around aeroplanes…

Here’s a small private plane-shaped pool in Miami.

This is the Flying W Airport in New Jersey, where they have a cool plane-shaped pool with “W”s on the wings. Flying W is described as a “flying airport resort“, and whilst I’m not sure exactly what that is, there’s definitely real planes parked right next to the pool. Very odd.

Over in Cairo, Egypt, they’ve taken a quite different approach and illustrated a fighter jet on the bottom of this circular pool, which also features a very large bird of prey. Do these insignia hold some sort of significance I wonder?

Finally, in China, they’ve dispensed with swimming pools, a built an entire lake in the shape of a plane! This is right next to a decent sized airport, so maybe this is a hotel.

Whilst swimming here might not be very pleasant, if you look closely you’ll see that instead, you might be able to take a boat trip in this plane!

Alex – i think you have fallen in to the ‘Make America Proud You” trap with the Flying W.
You have just looked at the logo and read ‘flying airport resort’ when you should have read it as “Flying W” “Airport resort”.
Just bad graphic design really (perhaps you can put in a pitch?) and not really confusion.
Take a “Doh!” card, do not pass go, do not collect £200.

I think I’m having Deja vu, haven’t you posted the Flying W resort before, maybe its just me thinking? I know I have seen it somewhere!

  3. Placemark: Google Maps / Google Earth

I’ve flown over this pool 100s of times on my way to Spokane Felts Field (SFF)

I wish I could remember the name of this guy, but it escapes me at the moment. Anyways, this guy used to rent out Lear Jets for cargo (or something). From what I remember, he got caught with something he shouldn’t have been flying… and ended up going bankrupt.

Although technically the Flying W is near Philadelphia, it is not in Pennsylvania (where Philadelphia is). It’s in New Jersey, about an hour east of Philadelphia, and about as removed from the big ol’ city as you can get, as you can see.

Ah, thanks for that Dan – post updated.

I saw something weird on the map of the last plane pic in china. It looks like a farm to the south with odd holes all over the place, a little more south you can see mounds all over the place.

The Cairo one appears to be at an airbase, as there are a fair few ‘copters sitting on the tarmac and either hangers or bunkers just to the north.

I’ve swam in that pool last summer lol.
It’s nice, also cool watching the nearby planes.
