Angelina Jolie’s Geocache Tattoo

Thursday, 24th May 2007 by James

Everything “geo” is so trendy right now that you can’t turn around twice with someone geocoding this or placemarking that.

In fact it’s so trendy that even Hollywood actresses are getting in on the act with Angelina Jolie’s latest tattoo featuring 4 latitude and longitude cordinates1.

Plugging the coordinates into Google Earth, the first leads us to Cambodia. This is supposedly where her first son, Maddox, was born.

Specifically, the lat/long leads us to a pond just outside the airport but I guess she was just aiming for the general area.

Following the next coordinate we are led to Ethiopia’s capital of Addis Abeba, where the eldest daughter Zahara was born.

For her third coordinate Angelina has gone a bit more specific, pointing to the Namibian beach resort of Swakopmund. This is where she gave birth to Brad Pitt’s baby Shiloh.

And lastly on our tour Angelina takes us to Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in Vietnam, where latest addition Pax Thien was born.

Of course, if she wanted to be really up-to-the-minute she should have had a KML file tattooed down her arm instead :D

Thanks: AndrewAnorak

Would have been funny if she’d done a Beckham and got the tatoo wrong. Last one pointing to a sewage works outside Basingstoke.

    How about this? (NSFW)

    KML Tattoo.

Sorry to interrupt you with some gossip, but isn’t Maddox older than Zahara? Ask aunt Wiki!

Ho Chi Minh City! Formerly Saigon, where I spent 11 months and some days in 1970-71. Clicked and drug from upper left to lower right to move Northeast to Tan Son Nhut Air Base, which in those days was the world’s busiest airport with all the military aircraft coming and going at all hours. Can’t find any trace of the Seabee Camp, the Mortuary or Camp DuBeau out around the North end of the main runway.

  5. 5. R2Lamigra says:

Correction….Northwest, not Northeast. NE should take one to the South China Sea.

    she should of had

    should HAVE.

    Jesus. Is this MySpace?

@KickerOfAss: yes Wikipedia agrees with your statement, but who doesn’t? Maddox is male, allowing Zahara to still be “eldest daughter”. Or did I miss your point?

@Pedant: Thanks, although the MySpace was comment was a tad harsh, don’t you think?

I thought it was spelled “MicePace”

@ James: My God, am I stupid. Daughter! That’s the female one! The one without that little thingy!
Sorry for that little bit of stupidity. I just wanted to show you that George W. Bush has not wiped out all the stupidity in the world yet - there’s still me and him left…

For those of you interested here are where my kids were born
Placemark: Google Maps / Google Earth

    St Marys Hospital, Manchester.
I didnt have to travel all round the world to get my kids - just got on the number 42 bus.
Also there werent paparazzi camped out or helicopters circling overhead (except the Police helicopter which is normal in Manchester!).
I am also sure i wont be getting the address tatooed anywhere on my body because i go past the place almost everyday so probably not going to forget where it is.

  12. 12. Chet says:

Its not a bad idea really as long as you’ve actually popped them out somewhere exciting. No kids yet here but on seeing this i thought i might do something for where i was married (link below) Maybe get the wedding rings engraved, nothing as drastic as a tattoo just incase ;)

lol, “Shiloh Pitt”, the greatest Spoonersism I’ve encountered for ages - always makes me laugh.

  14. 14. Brin says:

Nice! But I would have tatooed the locations of where each child was made… more funny ;-)

    cookiemonster, you are hilarious!

  16. 16. Angelina Jolie says:

It seems a very odd choice though. Wonder if this was trend before she did it or if it’s become a trend since. All her tattoos seem out of place like they don’t belong on the body of such a beautiful woman.
