Not even 24 hours since launch, and the rabid hordes of people who have been unleashed upon the UK Street View images have already located two UK television celebrities.

Firstly, comedian Dave Gorman was spotted wearing a very loud tie and watching the Street View Car intently. He has the full story on his blog.

Next up, the unmistakable face of The Stig! Yes, the actual Stig from Top Gear, in full driving outfit, has been spotted in the window of the BBC.1

Have you found any other celebrities on Street View? Let us know!

Make sure you keep up-to-date with our Google Sightseeing Twitter page, as that’s where we’re posting all of our new discoveries!

Thanks to aerialcaro and Dave Gorman.

  1. OK, he’s actually a cardboard cutout – but Dave Gorman is real!

  1. Graham says:

Wow! Is that really the Stig – how on earth did you spot that!

  2. Zak Lybrand says:

Money to the first person that finds me Eddie Izzard…

  3. Jess Carter says:

Some people say that he knows two facts about ducks, and that some he is a real person.

All we know is that he’s made of cardboard.

  4. luca says:

sorry to disappoint you guys but its not a cardboard cut out if you to the other views along the road you can see it is either a real person or a manequin because its 3d

  5. HighUPinPA says:

My apologies to all in the greater UK. I caught my first episode of Top Gear last night on BBC America. I take back my comments regarding Wally/Waldo. You Brits are clearly more advanced culturally than us here in the States.

  6. Ethan says:

This is the Top Gear offices and it is a Manakin of The Stig. Its one of the buildings to do with the BBC. The televsion centre is only down the road from here =]

I’m no conspiracy theorist but here in Gateshead you approach a rather nice Aston Martin.

As you pass it though the ‘image has been removed’.
Putting the pieces together – a posh car in a not very posh area, the removed image – can i put forward the theory the occupant is ‘famous’ (a footballer perhaps?) and has had his image removed?

    • dr.R. says:

Speaking about conspiracies, maybe the image is only blocked on your computer?

Do you know anybody with an Aston Martin?

      • cookie monster says:

Ooooooo! That is a mystery – the image is back!
I do actually know a couple of people with Aston Martins (my cleaning lady drives one) but its unlikely they would be hanging around Gateshead high street.
As with most conspiracy theories, sense has prevailed and the nutter who put it forward ends up looking a right plonker.

  8. Harry Lemon says:

Does anyone actually know what Dave Gorman looks like?

If you did, you’d surely know he wasn’t a young Asian bloke like the Man in the picture is.

Dave has said that’s him to get him a bit of publicity for his new show. Credit to him for fooling so many people.

  9. Matt says:

Hi – just to let you know – I actually work in that BBC building, and having been right up to this Stig, I can confirm that it is actually a cardboard cutout. So there you go. These are the Top Gear production offices – the show is not filmed here however (although the One Show is).
